Born and raised in Benin City, Nigeria, Confidence grew up surrounded by rhythm, melody, and a deep cultural appreciation for music. From the street sounds of Afrobeat to the gospel choirs that filled local churches, music was never far away. But it wasn’t until he first heard a live saxophone solo at age 12 that he knew exactly what he was meant to do. He got his first sax soon after — a beat-up alto that barely held a tune — but Confidence poured everything he had into learning it. Through countless hours of practice, local mentorship, and church performances, his sound began to take shape: warm, expressive, and unmistakably soulful. As his musical journey deepened, so did his passion for jazz, neo-soul, and contemporary African fusion. Influenced by greats like Gerald Albright, Fela Kuti, and Kirk Whalum, Confidence began crafting a voice of his own — one that balances tradition with innovation, smooth tones with emotional grit. Now based between Lagos and London, Confidence Osamudiamen is a rising voice in the global jazz and soul scenes.
